Dutasteride/tamsulosin FDC in BPH

<h2 id="aim">Aim</h2><p>To evaluate disease control in patients with BPH after 6 months of treatment initiation with the FDC of dutasteride/tamsulosin.</p><h2 id="method">Materials and Methods</h2><ul><li>Multicenter, prospective, non-interventional, observational study.<ul><li>Data for 793 patients with a mean age of 72 years, at baseline, 3- and 6-month follow-up visits.</li></ul></li><li>Disease control evaluated using first 7 questions of International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS-S).</li><li>Patients were classified according to the severity of symptoms for BPH at baseline<ul><li>Moderate symptoms: 8 s IPSS-S s19</li><li>Severe symptoms: 20 s IPSS-S s35</li></ul></li><li>Measurements of prostate volume (PV) and Prostate-SpecificAntigen (PSA) were also collected.</li></ul><h2 id="results">Results</h2><ul><li>Dutasteride/tamsulosin showed significant improvement in disease control (Figure I),<ul><li>IPSS score for patients with severe symptoms decreased with 11.73 points (p&lt;0.001)</li><li>IPSS score for patients with moderate symptoms the score reduced by 6.90 points (p&lt;O.001).</li></ul></li></ul><p style="text-align:center;"><img src="https://cdn.megawecare.com/GHBY/Internal-Images/IPSS-Score-094709.png" width="876" height="500"></p><ul><li>Treatment with Dutasteride/Tamsulosin FDC after6 months showed,<ul><li>Reduction in PV was higher in patients with moderate symptoms (decreased by 15.20 ml, p&lt;O.001) than in patients with severe symptoms (decreased by 13.72 ml, p&lt;O.001).</li><li>Reduction in PSA was higher in patients with severe symptoms (decreased by 1.09 ng/ml, p&lt;0.001) than in patients with moderate symptoms at baseline (decreased by 0.86 ng/ml, p&lt;0.001).</li></ul></li></ul><h2 id="conclusion">Conclusion</h2><p>The PROSPERITY I study showed statistically and clinically significant improvement of symptoms control, reduction of prostate volume and reduction of PSA, both in patients with moderate and severe symptoms, following a 6-month treatment with the FDC of dutasteride/tamsulosin.</p>
