The Self-Improvement Camp is a health camp designed for individuals with non-communicable chronic diseases (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, chronic kidney disease, cerebrovascular disease, etc.) and caregivers. The camp teaches participants how to manage their diseases through behavior and lifestyle modifications. The concept is based on the understanding that chronic diseases are the result of past health behaviors. Therefore, to improve the condition, one must begin by changing their health behaviors, as the human body has the potential to heal itself. The course content is rooted in evidence-based medicine and follows a holistic care approach.
Participants will gain knowledge about their disease and self-management techniques through various teaching methods and will learn about necessary health indicators for each condition. The learning format includes content learning, practical learning, cooking demonstrations using Plant-Based, Whole Food, Low Fat (PBWF), and self-practice training in five key areas of change: food, exercise, stress management, sleep, and building a support group.
